Underlay silage film is designed to ensure proper gas management within the silage clamp. Placing the film directly on top of the plant material allows it to tightly adhere to the silage surface, preventing the formation of air pockets between the film and the stored material. The natural moisture contained in the silage helps the transparent underlay film stick closely to the surface, ensuring uninterrupted anaerobic fermentation. Once the clamp is opened, the film significantly limits air access to the stored feed, reducing spoilage. Additionally, underlay film provides effective protection along the side walls and contact points with the silo, preventing water and air from penetrating the silage.
